The name on everyone’s lips: Amanda Gorman, reading a wonderful poem on the day Joe Biden’s swearing-in on the Inauguration Day in 2021, in the presence of the former first lady of the US Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Jenifer Lopez, and millions of people live worldwide. Dressed in yellow double-breasted coat, embellished Prada red satin head-band, called the US public diverse and beautifully inspiring in her poem, which none can stop to read or give a look.
Here is my interpretation:
Just isn’t always justice
Quiet isn’t always peace. When one day comes, we ask where we can find the light in this never-ending shade. The loss we carry, the sea we must wade. We’ve braved the belly of the beast. A notion that what ‘just’ is isn’t always justice, holds true. Somehow, we do it before we know the dawn is ours yet. Although the people witnessing the country with the successors of a country where a slave descendant skinny Black girl raised by a single mother can dream of becoming president to be the one reciting it before the laureates.
Harmony for all
Looking forward to what stands before helps us keep the hopes high putting the differences aside. One seeks understanding with each other for a peaceful and happy life. Each individual still keeps growing even when he or she grieves. When someone hurts us, we are tired; we try to tie together the strengths and be victorious in the process. Not because we escape from the defeat, but with an oath that we will never sow division.
Dare to climb
Many writings envisioned that one must sit and analyse under their own vine and fig tree without fear. The time owing to victory without a lie is a promise that the hill is climbed only if it is dared. We inherit the pride to keep the nation away from the destruction of its peace. Democracy can be delayed periodically, but never be permanently defeated if we trust our faith.
Action-reaction
So, if a bruised country is asked to prevail over the catastrophe, we may assert not to march back to what it was, but move forward for a benevolent though bold, fierce and free nation. Individual blunders become the nation’s burden with the certainty that merging the might with right, mercy with might, love turns into our legacy and change – the birthright of the children.
New blooms
So, let us leave behind any nation (whether we belong to it or not), better than one we were left. One must take an oath to rise from the gold to soothe the lives of forefathers during the revolution. Thus rebuilding, reconciling, and recovering beautiful diversity in every known nook of a nation.
We are yet to polish our knowledge irrespective of a union, to achieve the purpose of composing the country committed to all cultures, colours, characters, as well as race and conditions posed by the public and by the government. Hopeful of the day, the step to wave off the shades of flame and fear, blooms the new dawn for there is always a bright light.
