Resilience is our defensive ability to adapt and bounce from life’s challenges and adversities. Our resilience has been tested during the financial, emotional, health, and mental battle with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreso, it gives us the skill to navigate our focus and find enjoyable things to better cope with life’s stressors. If we lack resilience, we may dwell on our problems and feel victimised by unavoidable circumstances, leading us to suffer from mental health conditions related to depression, anxiety and burn-out.
Tips to rekindle personal resilience:
- Continue to build strong moral support with the people who are important in our lives.
- Consult a health professional when experiencing anxiety symptoms, work or study burn-out, and depression to stay in shape.
- Maintain a healthy and balance personal, family, and work priorities.
- Stay optimistic, and an optimistic response can be practised and improved over time.
- Stay physically fit and eat nutritious food; a healthy body results in a healthy mind.
Today, many organisations recognise the need to keep their employees resilient to prevent the harmful effects of stress, and this is by building team resilience, providing adequate information, resources, and intervening in activities with their distressed employees. The development of team resilience can ensure that people build skills to enhance their energy through mental health focus and emotional connection while working, even remotely.
However, we sometimes find ourselves wondering if how some of our colleagues become successful at work? Probably, they learned to strengthen their resilience by engaging in several strategies and habits to reduce work-related stress. It can also help to develop and nurture skills that will lead to acquiring mental agility.
Few things to take note of:
- Maintain a balanced and healthy work-life can bounce stressful situations; employees also need time to relax and unwind.
- Reflective on the things happening around can help to control the emotional reactions to stress.
- Stay positive to adapt to difficulty and hold a sense of control over work-related stress and its environment.
- Strengthen emotional intelligence from negative to positive thoughts.
Most employees are engaged in remote working, even at home; we should stay focused on what we are doing and stay optimistic even if there are challenges that might hinder us from keeping our work productive; work productivity should be achieved while building strong relationships with our family. Our family members should also learn to enhance their resilience.
Resilience is a critical life skill key for humankind’s survival. Our ability to cope with stress and unexpected challenges, whether at work or home, teaches us to become adaptive individuals. Staying focused on our goals and remaining optimistic about the different situations that life may offer, together with our family and friends, help us to remain resilient.
