Researchers tell us that our emotions determine how we perceive our world, how we remember it, and which decisions we take. That is pretty much the bulk of all human experience, wouldn’t you agree? It’s fair to say that our emotions need to be understood if we are to better make sense of our lives and why we do what we do.
If we are to better understand emotions, we need only to become aware of our emotional moods and reflect upon how they have influenced our behaviours. All emotion is energy and this energy can be positive or negative. Think about how your perception of anything can be altered just by these energies.
If you are in a positive state of mind, then you will probably be in good spirits and life, in general, will be positive. The converse of this is true as well. The real question is ‘How much control do we have over these energies?’
I believe that most of us allow our moods to control us and we might feel that we don’t have any choice in the matter. Also, I have noticed that when people are in a mood, they defend it strongly and believe it to be reality.
Only when the energy has changed might they see things differently. Just by recognising that our emotional moods create our perceptions is a major step in being able to gain more control over what we do and say. Our reality can then be greatly influenced by our emotional control.
With intense emotion, whether positive or negative, you are going to have an effect on whatever your current situation is. A burst of negative emotional energy such as frustration or anger can be the cause of an unwanted manifestation, especially with relationships. Positive loving emotions can create miracles of healing and goodwill. Negative and positive energies will both have their repercussions. What if we really had control over these energies?
Thoughts charged with emotion can be very powerful indeed. If we recognise this fact then we can use emotions to alter our lives with positive intentions. With the use of our will, we can choose to override our negative emotions and their thought patterns when appropriate.
We always need to remain aware of our feelings, thoughts, and emotions as a fundamental requirement for creating our own reality. By doing this we will be controlling our lives rather than simply being carried along with the flow or being constantly under the influence of others.
When functioning normally, emotions should be considered as not only a useful guide but as our unique and individual road map that helps us navigate this earthly experience. Our emotions are a very complex system that sometimes may spiral out of control and get us into all sorts of predicaments.
Since our emotions can vary from moment to moment, our perception can be modified along with them. It should be stated that we need not live in a ‘Pollyanna’ reality that is only viewed through rose-coloured, emotionally created glasses. When appropriate, negative emotions are a necessary aspect of experiencing and perceiving a reality that enables us to learn and grow. Knowing we have control opens up a whole new world of possibilities.
The person who understands that our perception changes with our emotions knows that what we see is not a true, solid reality. What we see is distorted by the emotion that is running us at that moment. It makes sense that we try and gain control over our emotions if we are to have a chance at not being run by our lower primal instincts.
Human beings have been shown to have a negative bias by the inherent emotions that have been proven to be present by birth. If not careful, we are prone to fall under the control of these emotions and our lives will be affected by them. Negative emotions along with negative thought patterns produce negative results. Positive emotions and thoughts produce positive results. Which will you choose?
