More Brits than ever before are looking for a new job as of January 2022, new data has revealed.
What’s more, it seems that escaping the office environment and entering the medical world is the top priority for Brits – with vaccinator and paramedic ranking as the most in-demand positions.
The findings uncovered by office furniture specialists, EZ Shopper, used search data to assess the current state of what has been termed ‘The Great resignation’.
Searches for the job-application website, Indeed, were at an all-time high as of January 2022. This could be attributed to the usual cases of itchy feet come the new year; yet with medical professions coming top of the list, it suggests the effects of Covid-19 have very likely influenced the ‘Big Quit’.
Search terms related to new careers uncovered that the most in-demand roles in the UK within the past two months were:
- Vaccinator
- Paramedic
- Counsellor
- Social Worker
- Train Driver
- Nurse
- Teacher
- Actor
- Driving instructor
- Police Officer
Not one of the top 10 most popular jobs involve an office setup, and medical jobs such as Vaccinator, Paramedic and Nurse all ranked within the top 6 positions.
Commenting on the data, EZ Shopper’s Director, Will Driscoll, said: ‘It’s clear to see from the data that “The great resignation” is very much underway, and who’s really surprised? We’ve all got at least a few friends who have been suffering from burnout throughout the pandemic, and in a post-covid world many of us are reassessing all areas of our lives including our career paths.
‘A toxic or uncomfortable workplace can have a huge impact on your mental and physical health. There are certainly ways to improve your office environment, from your desk setup to your colleague interactions; however, the new year could be the time to take the plunge and go for that role you’ve been dreaming of after all these years.’
