Undeniably, the year 2020 brought challenges to different sectors of our society. Everyone has been affected and is learning to cope with the setting of the new normal. The challenging times gave us the chance to reflect on our self and welcoming the new year may be a little bit different.
Making new year’s resolution is a tradition for many us, this is also considered as a self-progress report on how to become the ideal version of oneself, it also gives hope that at the end of every year, the resolutions are successfully achieved, if not all, at least most of those that are listed.
These are some tips to help build strong mental health this 2021.
Exercise routine – have a daily exercise routine
A healthy body creates a healthy mind – it is the same as a healthy mind can create a healthy body too. Doing daily exercise can help decrease life stress and soothe your fatigued body. Taking care of your mental health can simply be done by exercising several times a week. The brain produces feel-good endorphins that act as mental medicine every single time you that you exercise. Healing our mind allows us to be tough against different changes that happen on our day-to-day work.
Journal writing – start journaling
Starting to keep a journal with you is one of the best things that you can do for your mental health. It gives you a private space to write your thoughts, feelings and daily experiences. Writing in a journal is a way to release all your feelings and emotions for each day rather than letting them intensify in your head. It’s a healthy training that also helps you to contemplate clearly and live with thankfulness on all the things that are happening to you.
Meditation – make meditation a daily habit
Meditation is one of the best steps that you can take to sharpen your focus and enhance your life’s motivation. People who are engaging in meditation learn to train their brains to focus. Being focused help you to make decisions that are safe and secure and can help to lessen the stress.
A new beginning – start a new beginning
There’s so much of life that you can’t control. Because of this, you need to have mastery over the things that are within your control. Learn to be more resilient no matter what life may throw at you along the way. Learning to let go of the things that you can’t control is giving yourself the freedom to get over of the stress and anxiety, with this you are learning to appreciate the little things in life.
Work-life balance – schedule in between breaks from work
There should always be a work-life balance. If in previous years, you overworked yourself which led to a stress build-up, taking breaks from your work can help improve your mental health. Many of us feel the stressful hours during the week, so make sure that you give yourself time to rest and recharge over the weekend. Use your holiday breaks every so often for a vacation so you can recharge. Even taking a short vacation just to unwind can help establish a work-life balance that is healthy for your mental health.
